Variety doesn't mean cacophony

Music is a powerful force. It can stimulate creativity, invoke emotions, serve as a catharsis, and all sorts of other things. That's why many couples have "our song". I've no talent for creating music. But I definitely enjoy it. My musical tastes are broad and not age-appropriate. My iPod is a tossed salad of medieval music, alternative music, hip hop, electronica, pop, rock, rockabilly, country, techno, world music, etc. It probably represents several hundred years of musical history. Music is important to me. Is it important to you? Are you open-minded as to what constitutes "good" music?
